A highly experienced copy and scriptwriter, Lorna Thorpe had also worked as a social worker and barmaid before turning her hand to poetry. Pighog was delighted to help launch her career and she had near-instant success when the Poetry Book Society named her debut Dancing to Motown their pamphlet choice in Summer 2005. Her first full poetry collection A Ghost in My House is published by Arc.
Lorna's poems have a decadent fluency, painting pleasure and pain with confidence and suggestion. As a fiction writer, her short stories have been shortlisted for awards, and appeared in magazines and anthologies. With grants from the Arts Council, Lorna is working on her first novel.
