Lizzie Strong was a runner-up in the Pighog Short Story Competition for Writers of Children's Fiction 2010.
She lives in Storrington, West Sussex with her husband and three children. For 17 years she was a primary school teacher and she now works part time in a school library.
When she was at school she loved writing stories, and as a class teacher her favourite part of any day was reading to the children. After the birth of her second child an idea for a children's story came into her mind and she began to write. It was then she started to remember how much she had loved making things up when she was a child. From then on she was hooked. She knew that this was what she wanted to do.
She loves the feeling of being totally absorbed in her work. Nothing else matters when I'm writing, she says.
The thought that a child will get pleasure from her stories and be inspired to read more is what drives her forwards. Her story "The Most Boring Teacher in the World" is featured in The Toilet Monster and other stories.
